If we are honest, we didn’t get where we are today without someone, somewhere along our life giving us some help. For people searching for something more out of life or wanting to learn more about God, we’re here to help. We haven’t figured it all out, we’re certainly not perfect, but we enjoy sharing what we’ve discovered so far: “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) At Kingsway, our ministries are geared to help every person experience the love of God and grow in the grace and knowledge of God. (Luke 2:52)
All around us are people. New Jersey alone is home to almost 9 million. We rank 2nd in the nation for most densely populated and ethnically diverse. It is no accident that God has placed us exactly where we are. We believe that every person isn’t just a number in a crowd or a part of the mass of humanity. Each of us is unique, one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable, and enormously valued by God. He created us (Psalm 139:13), has purpose for us (Ephesians 2:10b), and desires relationship with us (James 5:8 ). At Kingsway, because people matter to God, they matter to us.
Everybody worships. Some of us worship position, wealth and prestige. Our god is our job or financial security. Some of us worship entertainment; our gods the celebrities we adore or the athletes we admire. Some of us worship sensation, living for the next thrill, adrenaline rush or high. Our god is self; we please ourselves first. God created us to worship Him (Colossians 1:16b) so when He isn’t the object of our worship, other, less worthy, things vie for our attention. Our hope is to help people find and worship the only One who truly satisfies. After all, Jesus left heaven and walked the earth to find and bring us all into relationship with the Father. We, the Church - His representative on earth - can do no less. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
When parents have an infant who is learning to walk, they aren’t dismayed when the first several steps are shaky. They don’t punish or scold the child for stumbling and falling. They applaud, encourage, and joyfully help their little one learn how to stand, step, and move forward. When we follow Jesus, our efforts often look like that of an infant. We study the Scriptures together on Sundays and we invite everyone to get into a group. We encourage, cheer, and help each other up when we fall. But, we don’t give up. Following Jesus, growing more like Him in our motives, attitudes, words and actions is what discipleship at Kingsway is all about. (Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Peter 2:21)
Make no mistake: Jesus is certainly a polarizing figure. His claims were that exclusive. Jesus said He was God (Matthew 26:63-65; John 8:58-59), claimed to come from heaven (John 16:28), said He was sinless (John 8:46), forgave sin (Mark 2:5; Luke 7:48-49), accepted worship (Matthew 14:33), performed miracles (Matthew 4:23, Luke 7:12-15) and articulated that He was the only way to heaven (John 14:6). This is the Jesus we worship. Here at Kingsway, everything we believe - all the nuances of our doctrine - spring from knowing God through His Son, Jesus.
